Randolph–Macon College is a private, co-ed liberal arts college located in Ashland, Virginia. There are approximately 1,400 students enrolled and the student-faculty ratio is 12:1. 1. EVST 101 - Introduction to Environmental Science
This class gives an introduction to the physical, chemical, and biological principles necessary to understand how human beings function in and influence their physical environment. You will discuss current environmental issues around the world and how to deal with these issues. In particular, you will examine environmental public policy on both the local and national levels. 
2. CSCI 106 - Computer Applications in Business
This class will help you develop problem solving skills using computer applications found in the business environment. There will be emphasis on spreadsheet applications. You will also be introduced to PowerPoint and its effective use or relational databases and Microsoft Access and basic computer organization. 
3. ASTR 101 - Introductory Astronomy
This class gives an introduction to contemporary astronomy. You'll examine the present scientific understanding of the universe and how it was achieved. Other course topics include historical astronomy, the solar system, stars and interstellar medium, galaxies, and cosmology. You'll also get hands-on experience in a laboratory setting and utilize the Keeble Observatory. 
4. NSCI 101 - Behavioral Neuroscience Seminar
If you're considering going into neuroscience or a similar field, this class will help you make a more informed decision. You'll be introduced to the field of behavioral neuroscience through the discussion of relevant and contemporary mainstream texts and visits from neuroscience professionals. You will also be introduced to the Randolph-Macon behavioral neuroscience laboratory and various aspects of the behavioral neuroscience major. 
5. MUSC 101 - Understanding Music
This class gives an introduction to the principles of music and its place in Western culture. You'll explore basic music theory through the study of a broad spectrum of music ranging from chant to symphonies to popular song. There will be emphasis on beginning skills, musical literacy, and developing a vocabulary for interpreting and discussing musical language. This course is designed for students with no previous musical experience. 
6. COMM 210 - Principles of Public Communication
Effective communication is a crucial skill in all professional fields. This class will give you guidance and practice in the fundamentals of public communication in a variety of contexts. There will be emphasis on speech theory and the practical application of essential theory. 
7. SPAN 111 - Elementary Spanish
Spanish is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world, especially in the US. This course teaches the essentials of Spanish. There will be emphasis on the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing. The course is designed for students with no experience of Spanish. 
8. ACCT 221 - Accounting I
This class gives an introduction to accounting practices and principles including preparation of financial statements from journals and ledgers. You will learn to prepare proper financial statements from accounting records. However, this class is not open to freshman. 
9. HIST 100 - Introduction to History I
This course is an introduction to the skills and methods of historical study. You will practice reasoning reason historically, thinking clearly and analytically, and reading critically. You'll write a critical or comparative book review that judges how another historian has applied those skills. 
10. EDUC 201 - Issues in Contemporary Education: Formation for Action
This course focuses on contemporary issues in education and how the topics intersect with and are impacted by other fields of study. The class is designed for non-education students and you'll get to hear guest speakers from various disciplines. You will explore topics relevant to you personal educational experiences.
